Hi, all.

I recently started using DIVA, and now in trouble about customizing material.

I wanted to add the material like acryls and set the index of Refraction.

I saw other  discussion and referenced

void dielectric materialname

0

0

red_transmissivity green_transmissivity blue_transmissivity index_of_refraction 0

this, and made 2 material.

↓↓↓

void dielectric id1

0

0

5 1 1 1 1.5 0

and

void dielectric id2

0

0

5 0.92 0.92 0.92 1.5 0

↑↑↑

But only the error messages show up and simulation doesn't work.

Could someone tell me what is the problem?

Regards,

Yuki

Hi Yuki,

Can you send us more information or a screen shot of the error and describe when you get the error?

Thanks,

Kera

Hi, Kera.

Thank you for your reply.

Here I paste screen shots.

Could you give me any advice from these?

Regards,

Yuki

Hi Yuki,

I fear there may be some language / Unicode issues going on here with your error. Could you upload the following to the forum or send it to us at kera@solemma.net and alstan@solemma.net?

1. A zip archive of your C:\DIVA\Temp\SMS\ folder.

2. Your Rhino file.

Thank you!

Alstan

Hi Yuki,

Sorry for the delay my reply to your post Yuki. It looks like the "¥par" is being added to your material names which is probably affecting the process. If you could upload/send us your files as Alstan requested that would be great.

Thanks,

Kera

Hi, Astlan and Kera

Thanks for your reply.

Though I send an e-mail yesterday, it was blocked.

So I post the files you told me now.

I hope you find the solution of the problem.

Yuki

Hi Yuki,

Alstan may also have some suggestions, but it looks like your material.rad file is altered. I am attaching another material.rad file. Can you try downloading it and using it to overwrite the material.rad file in the "Resources" folder in the project folder? You will need to click the "Materials" button and possibly reassign the materials before trying to rerun the simulation. Could you give that a try and let us know whether it helps?

Thanks,

Kera

Hi Kera

Thanks for early reply.

Finally, I could run simulation with your files.

Thank you very much.

But I can't understand what was problem with my material file.

I actually did change the files but it's necessary to add custom materials.

I attached the rad.file I made after referring to your files.

The simulation using this file failed again.

Could you explain the difference between your and my files?

Regards,

Yuki

Hi Yuki,

I believe the program you are using to edit the file is doing weird things. I would suggest to just use Notepad on Windows or the excellent and free Notepad++.

Best,

Alstan

Hi Astlan

Thank you for reply.

I tried to use Notepad++ as you said, but the error occured again.

I'm so sorry for asking you same question again, but could you tell me the problem?

I attached the file made on notepad++.

Regards,

Yuki

Hi Yuki,

So you still get the same issue. I Googled your problem a bit and perhaps this link might help,

http://www.eightforums.com/general-support/53499-all-my-text-files-...

It seems some program is giving a different end of line format to your .rad files.

Best,

Alstan
