Diva 4 (64bit) toolbars not loading in Rhino 5 (64 bit) - academic license

Hi,

I have been working with Rhino and Diva for a couple of years and have always been able to easily install and upgrade versions as my Rhino version has changed. I have recently changed my Rhino license to a stand alone license. I had Diva v3 loaded and it was working well. My academic license expired, so upon renewal I upgraded to Diva 4.0. I removed the toolbar from Rhino and unloaded the plugin and toolbar through the respective managers. From there I installed Diva 4.0 (64-bit), added my diva.lic file to the C:\Diva\ folder, and did the drag and drop of the .rhp and .rui files into an open window of Rhino 5. I did not restart my computer. When doing this the toolbars show up and I am able to change my folder location and assign materials, but I was unable to create analysis nodes. I restarted Rhino, and upon reopening the file I was working with the Diva toolbars are no longer available. Through the command line I type in "Diva" and a window appears saying Diva plugin is not loaded, and asks if loading it is what I want to do. Clicking yes brings up the length of time remaining on the my license, but the toolbar does not appear. Restarting the computer results in the same circumstances. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

cheers!

Hi Gregory,

Did you rename or remove the previous DIVA-3 folder before installing DIVA-4? If not, I would recommend to delete the C:\DIVA\ folder and repair the 4.0 installation. Otherwise, you likely have a mix of 3.0 and 4.0 files.

If the above is not the case, try turning on the toolbar using the "Toolbar" command in Rhino and loading the one from c:\DIVA\64bitPluginFiles\DIVA.rui

Best,

Alstan

Hi Alstan,

I started by renaming the Diva 3 folder as per the instructions. Today I deleted all of the Diva files and folders, and did a couple of rounds of unistalling Diva (as well as searching through all of the temporary and roaming folders to get rid of any remnants I could. I then reinstalled Diva 4.0, and went through the installation instructions. The same things happened as in the previous post: the toolbars show up at first, but restarting makes them go away. When I load them using the "Toolbar" command in Rhino it now says my license is out of date. Any thoughts?

I am running Rhino 5, 64-bit on my a ThinkPad X1 Yoga, with Windows 10 professional, if that helps at all.

cheers!

Hi Alstan,

An update... Everything on the Diva for Grasshopper side of the equation seems to work. If that helps to narrow things down, or just add to the confusion.

cheers!

Hmm, well it doesn't necessarily help. Grasshopper components are loaded more simply, just pulling from a directory on your computer. The toolbars need to be loaded based on a registry key, so I suspect that something is keeping that key from being written correctly.

If you run Rhino as an administrator, does it help?

Separately, if your license won't load in the DIVA toolbar, then it also shouldn't load in DIVA-Grasshopper. Do you still get the no license error in the toolbar?

Best,

Alstan

Hi Alstan,

The GH version of Diva works, while at the same time the plugin doesn't work directly in Rhino. I will try your suggestion of running Rhino as an administrator.

cheers!

Hi Alstan,

It would appear that the GH version of DIVA was running on a 30 day trial, similar to the DIVA on Rhino, as this evening I opened my GH file to do some more work and I am getting the following error on the DIVA components.

1. License not found.
LM-X Error: (Internal: 844 Feature: diva-grasshopper)

(Err: 9) Feature not found

For further information go to http://www.x-formation.com

I had no success getting the Rhino-based DIVA to work when running Rhino as an administrator either. Any additional thoughts?

cheers!
