Diva4 grasshopper components are awesome / questions/comments

I am testing the new components and they are awesome! I ever used workaround in HB/LB to calculate sDA and ASE for LEEDv4 Daylight calculation. The new Diva4 components simplify the entire calculation largely. According to what I know that Diva4 sDA and ASE calculations are based on  IES LM 83-12? 

I still have couple of questions and expect your kindly feedback: 

* When executing annual simulation, am I right to say (if I am introducing multiple objects) that I have to flatten them in order to get the simulation done? (see picture 1) 

* Instead of selecting material from pull down list (which means I have to set up a material file first), can I customize material by defining its properties (such as R, G, B, roughness, etc.)? Honeybee has a component can fulfill the requirement. However, I am not able to link such component to Diva4 "Scene Object". (see picture 2) Any solution? 

* I am currently "trial and error" HB/LB with Diva4 components. I can see some of them are working together perfectly. But do you foresee any potential issues here? 

* Am I right to say, when I execute annual simulation, all the metrics will be calculated? I am not so worry about a little bit time-consuming. My concern is, if I'd like to optimize my design (with reference to two metrics, such as sDA and ASE), am I able to cease other calculation but only allow one output? 

Your comments will be greatly appreciated.

Yes.  Though it is possible for you to violate certain requirements (e.g. sensor spacing < 60cm) and the results will still calculate.

Sort of -- the simulation components do expect a list of objects for each run.  You can input a tree, but each branch will run separately (this is useful for coordinating a series of runs without a slider).

You can input the material as a string, which means you can do literally any parameterization you like.  See a simple find-and-replace example here.

Not quite sure what you mean by this.

Yes, you can control which outputs are calculated by adding or removing them as desired.  There is a zoomable UI for this... just zoom in until you see the little + / - buttons next to the outputs.

Thanks for the prompt reply! May I ask one more question? How could the schedule (i.e. office 8to6 or residential 24hr) be reflected in the annual calculation?

It's set at the Grid level:

(If you want to create more schedules, you can add them as CSV files to C:\DIVA\Schedules)
