Hi All,

I am trying to do an optimization using galapagos for a screen design using climate based metrics.

After 3 different simulations I get this error "ds_el_lighting.exe" stopped working. Do you have an idea why this might happen  ?

I have a simple rectangular box with 4 different screens on each side and galapagos is changing their parameters.

It looks like it is working fine since I compared the .HEA files and the .DA files and they look ok.

Thank you.

Hi Mohamed,

Could you possibly post the c:\DIVA\Daylight\Grasshopper\Projects\[Simulation]\ folder which gives you the error? I'd like to see if the same thing happens on my machine too.

Best,

Alstan

Hi Alstan,

Please find attached the folder sipped. This is one of the files causing the problem.

Thanks,

Hi Mohamed,

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this, but that is because its a weird problem! If the .ill file already exists when running your file, ds_electric_lighting crashes. If there is no .ill file present already, it does not crash. The explanation for this is not easily imaginable, but I think pre-checking for ill files before running a simulation (or not re-running simulations) would help in this case. Can you hook some sort of ill-file-checker up to Galapagos before it runs a simulation?

Best,

Alstan

Thank you Alstan,

I will give it a try and let you know...

Was there ever a solution found for this? I am having the exact same problem.

Hi Elliot,

Could you do the same thing I asked Mohamed to do and post or zip the c:\DIVA\Daylight\Grasshopper\Projects\[Simulation]\ folder which gives you the error? You can email it to me if it is too large.

Best,

Alstan

I guess it's due to running several simulations in same grasshopper document as Alstan describes. I have issues of simulations running four times even though my definition only "should" run twice.
