Dear experts,

I am trying to run a visualization from one window. I have defined a ground plane with grass material. If I run a render the ground has the material defined but if I run a visualization with DIVA the ground has the default material.

I would be grateful if you tell me how can I define a ground plane for DIVA?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Urtza.

Hello Urtza,

Are you assigning the grass material from the DIVA materials dialog? What type of visualization are you expecting -- a green material?

Alstan

Did you try modeling the ground as geometry? If you did you can attach a material to the ground plane geometry.

Hello Guys,

No, I have not modeled the ground plane. So I could not assign the grass material from the DIVA.

How could I model the ground plane?

Thank you in advance,

Urtza.

Hi Urtza,

Just model a plane in Rhino on a new layer, and you can assign any material to it with the DIVA Materials command. By default, there is no green grass, but you could add one such as this.

void plastic grass_greenish
0
0
5 0.0977 0.1126 0.0411 0.0000 0.0000

Best,

Alstan

Thanks you for the metarial Alstan.

The plane must be very large plane? Or it is not so much important.

Best regards for you,

Urtza.

Hi Urtza,

if it is for visualization you might need a large plane so it doesn't look strange. For accuracy -> the goal is to capture all diffuse reflections of the ground that are close to your openings. I always measure the bounding box of the building and create a plane that is 4 times as large.

Best,

Hi Timur,

Thank you so much for your suggestions.

I will try as you have told me.

Best regards for you,

Urtza.

Wait a sec, is this true for the latest DIVA GH components?  The annual daylight component includes a hidden input that says 'ground reflectance."  If I modify this, it changes the daylighting results. That would lead me to believe that it is adding a ground plane automatically?
