Hi everyone,

I am computing the cooling load of a shoebox room with window.

By default, in the C:\DIVA\Thermal\Rhino\05_gains_conditioning.idf file, the cooling limit is UnLimited as defined below:

NoLimit, !- Cooling Limit
, !- Maximum Cooling Air Flow Rate {m3/s}
, !- Maximum Total Cooling Capacity {W}

I set air flow rate 0.05m3/s and cooling capacity 500kW, by making the following changes:

, !- Cooling Limit
0.05, !- Maximum Cooling Air Flow Rate {m3/s}
500000, !- Maximum Total Cooling Capacity {W}

After I run thermal analysis, these changes are reflected in the auto-generated .idf file in ProjectName-DIVA/thermal folder. However, it seems that the changes are not used in the simulation as the simulation results remain unchanged.

Any advice how should I define the cooling limit? Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

Apologies for the late reply. I apparently do not check the DIVA-3 forum regularly anymore. Is your shoebox zone cooling load greater than 500 kWh at any hour (not accounting for the COP setting)? If not, then I would not expect to see any differences.

I agree with the Alstan.
