Hi,

I am using Archsim for a glazed facade with a shading devices. I inserted shading components separately as a Brep into the input of (shading geometry collection) in the zone network component.See the attached picture.

The simulation ran successfully but I don't know what is the default material assigned for shadings?

I want to ask how can I assign a material for the shading devices (3d geometry) to estimate heat conductivity,.. etc. from shadings.

Regards,

Sahar

Hi - there is a shading surface component where you can set the transparency.

Hi, Timur

Thanks for your reply.

I wonder if there is material component for 3d object.

Sahar

Also if I insert the 3 D geometry (brep) direct  as shown in the picture, what is the default heat transfer/ conductivity assumed for the shading?

Hi Sahar,

Shading devices don't conduct heat into the building in EnergyPlus -- they're thermally benign and only provide shade. I am not sure how you would model it otherwise to be honest (though there may be a way).

Thanks Alstan for the clarification.
