DIVA 2.0.1.0 Beta Released. Simultaneous install of Rhino 4 and Rhino 5 versions.

Hi all,

We just released a new beta version of DIVA, 2.0.1.0. There will be no official version release of 2.0.0.9. If there are no serious bugs discovered in this version, it will move into a full release.

Please see the full changelog and download at the Solemma website, but the biggest single feature of this update is that DIVA for Rhino 4 and Rhino 5 64-bit are installed together. The DIVA 4 plugin location is the same, in C:\DIVA\DIVA.rhp. The DIVA 5 64-bit  plugin resides in C:\DIVA\Rhino5PluginFiles\x64\.

If you are using DIVA in Rhino 5 for the first time, please read the message below about making sure your geometry export is configured properly.

Best regards,

Alstan

To make DIVA work with Rhino 5, your export options must be set appropriately. To achieve this, follow the instructions below,

  1. Select some geometry in Rhino and type the command "Export."
  2. Select "OBJ" as the export type and click "Options..."
  3. Make sure the settings are identical to the image below.
  4. Accept the option changes by clicking "OK," and complete the export process.

Your OBJ export settings must be identical to this in Rhino 5.

Hi Mohamed,

Viper, using the updated Grasshopper file that comes with the beta installer, seems to be working on my computer. Could you post some more information? Does the component output an error message? Is there any output in the c:\DIVA\Thermal\Grasshopper\Projects\[ProjectName]\ folder?

Thank you,

Alstan

Hello,

I am not able to set my obj exports (in Rhino 5) to the specified configuration as shown above. Is there is something I am missing? The only way I am able to achieve that configuration (exactly) is by setting my saved objects to "NURBS" instead of "Polygon Mesh".

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ron

Hi Ron,

The most important settings in the dialog are "As OBJ objects" and "Do not export layer/group names," so as long as you can set those all should be fine. I do note that in the latest version of Rhino 5, some of the options in the screenshot are greyed out now.

Best,

Alstan

Hi Alstan,

Thanks for the speedy reply and for clearing that up for me. I figured that may be the problem since Rhino 5 was still "Beta" when you released this DIVA version.

THanks,

Ron
