Important: Bug in Rhino 5, Service Release 1 (SR1)

Dear DIVA users,

There is a bug with Rhinoscript in Rhino 5 SR1, released on January 29, 2013 which causes certain elements of DIVA to break. We recommend to avoid upgrading at this time and to keep the original version of Rhino included with your installation CD.

We will update this thread when SR2 is available with a bug fix.

Best regards,

Alstan

Hi Alstan,

I'm getting the same VBscript error type mismatch 'Unbound' on Rhino 5.0 trial versions (some students that are getting into DIVA) which versions dates from:

Version 5 (5.1.30103.145, 1/3/2013)

It's a previous version that the one you mention but the error is the same. Is it the same problem? If so, Can I fix it?

Thanks,

Luís dos Santos

Hi Luís,

I obviously don't have that version of Rhino, but just to make sure, the error is when you are using the "Nodes" command? If so, I suspect it is the same problem.

Best,

Alstan

Yes it happens when we reset the calculation nodes. Rhino 4.0 is working fine though.

Hope that Mcneel hurries up with the SR2 of Rhino 5.0.

Thanks Alstan,

Best,

Hi DIVA users,

We just posted an update available from the solemma.net download page, which no longer uses the affected Rhinoscript functions.

Since this constitutes a small change, a complete reinstall of DIVA isn't necessary. You can download a zip archive containing 32 and 64-bit versions of the DIVA plugin below,

DIVA_2.0.1.3_upgrade.zip

To upgrade, just close all open instances of Rhino and overwrite the existing DIVA.rhp files with the ones contained in the zip archive.

NOTE: This is beta software. While the update works on our computers, it has not been fully tested. Please report any issues with the update on this forum post or by email to alstan@solemma.net.

Best regards,

Alstan

Alstan,

I appreciate the update but I am still having trouble using DIVA.  I replaced the .rhp files in my DIVA folder and then opened Rhino but when attempting to use DIVA I get an error saying the my plugin is blocked to protect this computer.  I follow Rhino's direction to unblock the file in the properties but I don't have an unblock option. See bellow.  Any advice?

Hi Taryn,

I think you have to right-click on the DIVA.rhp file and unblock it. For Rhino 5 64-bit, the file is located in C:\DIVA\64bitPluginFiles\.

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Best,

Alstan

Does this update preclude running DIVA in Rhino 4?  I was running Rhino 4 just fine before, then I updated the Rhino plugin per this thread.  Now I get the following error.

Hi Jeff,

It should not preclude running in Rhino 4.I still use Rhino 4 as my main modeler with the update.

So let's figure out what is happening! What task are you performing when you see that dialog? As always, the first test I recommend is to click through the DIVA buttons again (Location, Nodes, Materials, Metrics). With more information, I should be able to give a better answer.

If you upgraded from a much older version of DIVA than 2.0.1.2, you might need to do a complete reinstall because many of the 'library' files have changed over time.

Best regards,

Alstan

Alstan-

I was little too quick in posting this error.  Indeed, re-setting up the location, nodes & materials fixed this problem. It seems that when you replace the .rhp it deletes the nodes, materials, etc.

Thanks!

Jeff
